In those days, 20 to 30 years ago, if you got stuck in
the bush, provided you had enough water, you just shot a 'roo' and you
were ok
for a few days. Now its politically incorrect and even
unlawful in most circumstances to even carry a gun. If your car broke down,
unless
it was a piston through the block, a valve through the
head or a broken crank or cam shaft, you fixed it somehow.
With some of today's cars you dare not go bush for fear
that if something went wrong with all its fancy gear you could find yourself
"over your eye balls". If short
of water or fuel, one would be a little concerned.
Anyhow, I'm not worried, you see, I have got the answer.
I now drive an AUSTRALIAN
built OKA.
Here goes the story:
I got sick of the work I was doing for the past 15 years,
feed up dealing with bureaucrats and their grand standing and internal
politics,
so I gave it all away. I should have done so ten, or
at least three years earlier.
I now run Outback Tours, plan to do so until I'm no longer
able to walk through the Valley of The Winds or climb Uluru and hope
to
show anyone who comes along with me how beautiful this
great country is. In the mean time my photos will
have to do.
